Michael Zeide, M.D.
Dr. Michael Zeide is a general orthopedic surgeon.
After completing Northwestern University Medical School in 1970, he worked as a House Officer in the British National Health System at Cambridge University.
His orthopedic residency was from 1971-75 at the Hospital for Joint Disease Orthopedic Institute in New York City.
1975-77, he served as a Major in the United States Army at Fort Dix, NJ
at Walson Army Hospital- and received the Army Commendation Award.
He was associated with the Orthopedic Center of Palm Beach County for over 30 years.
On April 1, 2007, Dr. Zeide joined Performance Orthopedics of the Palm Beaches.
Dr. Zeide is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and was in the first group of Orthopedic Surgeons to be re-Certified.
He founded the Palm Beach County Orthopedic Society in 1978 and for 20 years was its president.
He has also served on every committee of the Florida Orthopedic Society and was its President in 1994.
He has been honored by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and served on the Board of Councilors for 6 years.
Since 1987, he has been a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Miami School of Medicine, in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.
Also, he is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, American College of Sports Medicine, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Clinical Orthopedic Society, and was a founding member of the North American Spine Society.
Locally, he has served as Team Physician for John I. Leonard High School and Cardinal Newman High School.
For 20 years he has been the Company Physician for the Miami City Ballet.
He is a Member of the International Association for Danve Medicine.
Dr. Zeide is currently on the editorial Board of the Journal Orthopedics Today and the American Journal of Orthopedics.
He is the author of numerous scientific articles and is the co-author of the Orthopaedic Dictionary with Dr Stanley Hoppenfeld.
His patent, #3,957,050 for a limb holding device is used extensively in operating rooms throughout the world.
Finally, he has been actively involved in numerous community activities including a volunteer physician for the Special Olympics, Little People of America, the Osteoporosis Foundation, and the Arthritis Foundation.
In 1985, he volunteered for two months at the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem- and performed the first cementless knee replacement in Israel. For his volunteer service, he received the North American Myrtle Wreath Award.
Significantly, he has served on numerous Florida Bar committees, including 6 years on 2 Florida Bar Grievance Committees, 6 years on the Standing Committee for the Unlicensed Practice of Law, ad hoc ethics committees, and served 4 years as a Commissioner for the 4th DCA Judicial Nominating Committee (JNC). He is the recipient of the Florida Bar Liberty Bell Award for the Outstanding Member of the community.
