Jeffrey Press, M.D.
Dr. Jeffrey A. Press is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine, Joint Replacement & Reconstruction. His practice focuses on the conservative and surgical treatment of musculoskeletal disorders involving the shoulder, hip and knee in the adult and teenage populations. Dr. Press has been serving the South Florida region since 1994, and recently joined Performance Orthopedics of the Palm Beaches in August of 2007.
Dr. Press received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with honors, including Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. He then graduated from the New York University School of Medicine, where he also graduated with honors and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Joseph B. Chalal, M.D.
Dr. Joseph B Chalal is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine, and arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery. After graduating Lafayette College Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, Dr. Chalal received his Medical Doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He graduated in 1982 as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Following his general surgical internship and residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, he completed his orthopedic residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center where he was the Annie C. Kane Fellow and Chief Resident. Dr. Chalal did a Sports Medicine fellowship at North Sydney Sports Medicine Center.
Michael Zeide, M.D.
Dr. Michael Zeide is a general orthopedic surgeon.
After completing Northwestern University Medical School in 1970, he worked as a House Officer in the British National Health System at Cambridge University.
His orthopedic residency was from 1971-75 at the Hospital for Joint Disease Orthopedic Institute in New York City.
1975-77, he served as a Major in the United States Army at Fort Dix, NJ
at Walson Army Hospital- and received the Army Commendation Award.
Gregory M. Martin, M.D.
Dr. Gregory M. Martin is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee arthritis and other painful disorders. He has advanced fellowship training in reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee from Harvard Medical School. His five-year orthopaedic surgery residency was completed at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has learned from many of the pioneers in hip and knee replacement and was educated at several of the most prestigious hospitals in the country for joint replacement surgery (Boston: Brigham and Women’s Hospital and New England Baptist Hospital. New York: Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center). He received his Medical Doctorate Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the elite medical honor society. He earned his Bachelors of Science at the University of Miami, where he developed his love of the Florida lifestyle.
Rocco Ferraiolo PTA, NASM-CPT, SPARQ certified
Rocco received his degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2004 from South University. He has worked in Palm Beach County since graduation, treating a wide variety of orthopedic patients in the outpatient setting. Prior to achieving his physical therapy degree, Rocco was operations manager and personal training director from 2000-2003 at a local fitness facility. He earned numerous personal training certifications for the senior community, weekend warriors, and high level athletes. Rocco has integrated his physical therapy background into a comprehensive program that combines therapy, training, and conditioning to maximize a patient’s outcome. In his spare time, Rocco enjoys training (himself), participating in competitive recreational sports, and spending time with family and friends.
Rita Zimmermann, LPTA/CLT

Rita received her Associates of Applied Science with Honors in Physical Therapy from Union County College, New Jersey, in 1985.
She has worked extensively with physically disabled, geriatric, orthopedic, and pediatric patients in a variety of settings, including outpatient rehabilitation, scholastic, and the home health setting. In her work, Rita maintains a compassionate concern for people, and a desire to use her skills to enhance patient well being. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Rita attended the Academy of Lymphatic Studies in March of 2006 and received her certification as a Lymphatic Therapist. Her most challenging and rewarding experience has been raising her three children. During her free time, Rita enjoys outdoor activities which include Scuba diving.
Chris Athos, MPT COMT

Chris began his educational career volunteering at a physical therapy clinic while attending Penn State University. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, while closely working with the university athletes. He received his physical therapy training at the University of Florida, and graduated with his Masters degree in 2006.
Chris practiced as a travelling physical therapist in Florida, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina for 2 years before settling in the Palm Beach area. Prior to working at Preferred Orthopedics of the Palm Beaches, Chris directed outpatient theapy clinics in Palm Beach County, with an emphasis on worker's compensation care management and outpatient orthopedics.
Steven L. Bernstein PT,OMT

Steven Bernstein Graduated from Florida International University in 1995 with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy. He later completed four years of residency training in Manual Therapy with the Ola Grimsby Institute. Steve has been a practicing orthopedic therapist for over sixteen years in Palm Beach County.
In addition to clinical practice, Mr. Bernstein has served as an adjunct professor at the university level, instructed continuing education classes to his peers for six years, and supervised physical therapy students as a clinical instructor for ten years.
Mr. Bernstein is native to South Florida, and enjoys all of its outdoor activities. He is a competitive amateur triathlete, who enjoys the competition of the sport and the challenge it provides.
Maura N. Hertzog, M.H.S., PA-C

Maura Hertzog, is a 1985 graduate of Duke University. She attended Duke on a basketball scholarship, and was the starting point guard for all four years. In 1988, she graduated from Duke University’s Physician’s assistant program, and received her Master’s in Health Science from Duke in 1995. She subsequently received her certification as a Personal Fitness Trainer from the American Council on Exercise. She remains an avid sports participant, completing numerous marathons and maintaining her basketball skills.
Ms. Hertzog has over fifteen years of experience in the field of orthopedic surgery, and has a special interest in sports medicine. As a physician assistant, she is a State licensed health care provider who assumes an integral role in patient management, both in the office and operating room, under the supervision of Dr. Chalal. Ms. Hertzog is a very experienced and valued member of the Preferred Orthopedics of the Palm Beaches professional patient health care team, dedicated to providing excellence in orthopedics.
William Ulrich, PA

William (Bill) Ulrich graduated from the Touro College Physician Assistant Program in 2002, and received his bachelor's degree in Physician's Assistant Medicine. He also held a degree as an interventional radiological technologist prior to becoming a physician assistant.
Mr. Ulrich has over ten years of experience in the field of orthopedic surgery, with a special interest in hip and knee replacement. As a physician assistant, he is a State licensed health care provider who assumes an integral role in patient management, both in the office and operating room, under the supervision of Dr. Martin. Bill is a very experienced and valued member of the Preferred Orthopedics of the Palm Beaches professional health care team, dedicated to providing excellence in orthopedics.
